Cena's a star with rap attack

Each time John Cena steps into the ring, he's got a lot more on his mind than his opponent. Cena, 26, is WWE's resident rapper, and a good one at that. But with all the rapping on his mind, sometimes he has to improvise, go with the flow.

"I've forgotten what I'm supposed to say before," said Cena. "I have to rhyme with the last thing I said and it has to make sense. I'm super nervous when I get out there, there's a big adrenaline rush."

In the ring, Cena's become a heel fans love to hate. But they'd better get used to him; he plans on being around for a long time.

"I'm here to fight," said Cena. "I want to be doing this in five years and in 10 years. I love what I do.

"Going out there, the feeling is indescribable. Everybody is watching you, just you. For 10-15 minutes, it's your time."

Cena has early memories of wrestling. He'd sit and watch it with his father, John.

"My dad's probably the biggest wrestling fan ever," said Cena. "I've been a fan since I was young. I'm really big on technical wrestling -- guys like Dean Malenko, Chris Benoit, Tiger Mask and Lou Thesz.

"I was never an amateur wrestler. I was in a dead-end job, moving fitness equipment. One of the guys I worked with grabbed me kicking and screaming and took me to the gym. From then on, every second I had, I devoted to wrestling."

Born and raised in West Newbury, Mass., Cena grew up a Boston Red Sox fan.

And now he's at the top of his game, with a gimmick that he was given soon after his arrival on Smackdown!

"It was a freak accident," said Cena. "I was in the process of getting to know a lot of the guys ... a lot of them were into hip-hop. I was doing freestyle and one of the creative guys heard me. It sounds like a cliche, but me outside the ring is the same -- with the volume turned down a bit."
