Carlson's thoughts on 'The Marine' October 12, 2006 Kelly Carlson plays the wife of John Triton (played by John Cena) in The Marine, which opens nationwide Friday. She shared her thoughts on the movie after its world premiere at Camp Pendleton in Southern California earlier this month. What was it like during the premiere? I love seeing anything I do on the big screen; its really special and not a lot of people get a chance to experience it. But the best part about it was the crowds reactions to all the funny moments, to all the action, the cheering and the yelling. Thats pretty special when a crowd has a reaction like that. How does it feel for the crowd to be able to see you and interact with you? I think its great. I love being in the theater with someone whos experiencing it for the first time. Ive never been in that position, watched a movie with an actor, and been able to ask them questions or show them my appreciation or enthusiasm. So its really cool. You were sitting next to John during the viewing, did you get a feel for his reactions? I think Johns reaction is a lot like most actors when you watch yourself on television for the first time. Critical. Its hard to watch sometimes. He hadnt screened the movie six times like I have. But when you first watch yourself, theres a lot of pressure. So hes gonna have to watch it a couple more times, I think. How do you rate John Cenas performance? Excellent. He did exactly what he was supposed to do. Strong, tough, solid, confident all the way through. He did a great job. I dont see anyone else playing that role. And thats a big deal. Whos tougher, John Cena or John Triton? Probably John Cena. He actually exists. Hes a wrestler. |
